Cupro Nickel Pipes to ASTM B466
Cupro-nickel (copper-nickel) alloys combine copper with 5–30% nickel plus small iron and manganese additions. The two most widely used grades are 90/10 cupro-nickel (UNS C70600) and 70/30 cupro-nickel (UNS C71500), with 95/5 (UNS C70400) as a lower-cost option.
Properties and Uses of Cupro Nickel Pipes
Cupro-nickel alloys have excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and biofouling, good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, and are easy to fabricate and weld.
Where not to use it: Avoid sulphide-polluted water. For high-velocity seawater, choose 70/30 cupro-nickel over 90/10.
Testing, Documentation and Packaging
Every lot of Cupro Nickel pipes is inspected before dispatch. Typical tests include chemical analysis / PMI, tensile and hardness testing, flaring and flattening tests, hydrostatic or eddy-current testing, and dimensional inspection. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request.
Material is supplied with a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, together with the raw-material report and inspection reports. For export orders it is wrapped in poly bags and packed in fumigated wooden cases, crates or pallets, with a fumigation certificate included.
