Aluminium Brass (UNS C68700) Sheets & Plates to ASTM B171
Aluminium brass (UNS C68700) contains about 77.5% copper, 20.5% zinc and 2% aluminium, with 0.02–0.06% arsenic to inhibit dezincification. The aluminium forms a tough, self-healing oxide film on the surface.

Properties and Uses of Aluminium Brass Sheets & Plates
That protective film gives aluminium brass better resistance than Admiralty brass to seawater, higher flow velocities and erosion-corrosion, which makes it a standard choice for seawater-cooled condensers.
Where not to use it: Aluminium brass is not suitable for ammonia-bearing service or sulphide-polluted seawater. For the most demanding seawater duty choose 90/10 cupro-nickel or 70/30 cupro-nickel.
Testing, Documentation and Packaging
Every lot of Aluminium Brass sheets & plates is inspected before dispatch. Typical tests include chemical analysis / PMI, tensile and hardness testing, bend testing, ultrasonic testing of plates where required, and checks of thickness and flatness. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request.
Material is supplied with a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, together with the raw-material report and inspection reports. For export orders it is interleaved with protective paper and packed on fumigated wooden pallets or in wooden cases, with a fumigation certificate included.
